Baghdad: The General Authority of Customs announced on Sunday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle $83,000 at Baghdad International Airport.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the authority stated that an Iraqi passenger attempted to bring the amount into the country without declaring it. The money was discovered during a thorough inspection of the passenger’s luggage in the arrivals hall at Baghdad International Airport.

The authority confirmed that legal measures were taken against the passenger and the funds in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat smuggling attempts and protect the national economy.
