Erbil: A seminar was held at the Kurdish House of Culture and Publishing on protecting women from harassment in the workplace and while commuting. The Kurdish House of Culture and Publishing, represented by its Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Kahramana Organization for Women’s Empowerment, organized a dialogue seminar entitled “Protecting Women from Harassment in the Workplace and While Commuting: Challenges and Institutional Solutions.” The seminar featured presentations by lawyer Shirin Zangana and Colonel Basma Al-Zidi from the Community Police.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the seminar discussed the most prominent challenges facing women, particularly the fear of reporting and the lack of safe channels for complaints and reporting harassment on public transportation. It emphasized the importance of promoting legal awareness, activating safe reporting mechanisms, and enacting a specific law against harassment that includes deterrent penalties.

The seminar also addressed the need to provide appropriate reporting methods for women with hearing disabilities. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the presenters in recognition of their efforts.
