Baghdad: The Military Intelligence Directorate announced the thwarting of a large-scale smuggling attempt involving unlicensed medications into Diyala.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate stated that, as part of its ongoing efforts to pursue smuggling networks and curb illegal activities, and based on precise intelligence, detachments from the Intelligence and Security Department of the 1st Infantry Division successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of unlicensed medications.

The operation followed meticulous intelligence surveillance, and the smuggled materials, en route from one province to Diyala, were seized. The materials were intended for illegal distribution.

The suspect was referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
