Madrid: Atletico Madrid temporarily topped the Spanish La Liga standings after defeating Sevilla 3-1 in their match on Saturday, part of the third round of the competition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ikechukwu Baena was the star for Atletico, scoring twice in the 4th and 33rd minutes, while Ademola Lookman added another goal in the 26th minute. Miguel Sierra managed to score Sevilla’s lone goal in the 66th minute, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome of the match.

Atletico Madrid now has 7 points, temporarily leading the table on goal difference ahead of Alaves, who also have 7 points. Barcelona and Real Madrid are tied for third and fourth place with 6 points each, having played only two matches. Sevilla remains in fifth place with 6 points.

In other matches, Levante secured a resounding 5-2 victory over Real Betis, bringing their total to 4 points and placing them ninth. Betis remains in sixth place with 6 points. Real Sociedad also defeated Espanyol 2-1, bringing their total to 3 points and placing them twelfth, while Espanyol remained in tenth place, also with 3 points.
