Pirmam: Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani received Clemens Smutner, the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, in Pirmam on Sunday. The meeting focused on the ongoing situation in Iraq and the broader region, reflecting on the complexities and challenges facing the area.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the EU Ambassador extended his congratulations to Barzani on the 80th anniversary of the KDP’s founding and offered condolences to the families affected by recent drone and missile attacks in the Kurdistan Region. The Ambassador highlighted the European Union’s commitment to prioritizing the stability of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Discussions during the meeting included an exchange of views on regional tensions and the future trajectory of Iraq. Developments in Syria, the current situation in Sinjar, and the obstacles hindering the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement were also key topics addressed in the talks.
