Paris: Paris FC temporarily topped the French Ligue 1 standings after securing a resounding 3-0 victory over Nice at the Stade Jean-Bouin on Sunday evening, in the second round of the competition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Parisian team, led by English coach Liam Rossinior, now has 4 points, topping the table on goal difference, while Nice remains on one point. The match saw the return of Egyptian international defender Mohamed Abdelmonem to Nice’s starting lineup for the first time in 16 months, following a cruciate ligament injury sustained in April 2015.

Algerian duo Ilan Kebbal and Samir Cherki also featured in Paris FC’s lineup and played a key role in the win. Kebbal won the penalty that led to the opening goal before setting up Cherki for the second. Malian Lassine Seynayoko opened the scoring for the home side in the 21st minute from the penalty spot, awarded after Kebbal was fouled inside the box by Burundian Youssouf Ndayishimiye.

Samir Cherki extended Paris FC’s lead by adding a second goal in the 51st minute, firing a low right-footed shot from inside the penalty area after a decisive pass from his compatriot, Kebbal. Substitute Vincent Marchetti sealed the victory with a third goal in the 89th minute, just six minutes after entering the pitch, with a powerful left-footed shot from inside the penalty area, following a pinpoint pass from fellow substitute, Ivorian Patrick Zab©.
