Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior confirmed on Monday that the crime rate in the country has reached its lowest point since 2003. “The Ministry’s primary and fundamental role is to take preventative measures to stop crimes. It primarily seeks to reduce crime to levels that do not disturb public opinion or paralyze daily life,’ said the head of the Ministry of Interior’s Media and Public Relations Department, Major General Miqdad Miri, to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Major General Miri emphasized that “as a result of these efforts, the crime rate in Iraq has fallen to its lowest level since 2003.” He further noted the significant security stability being witnessed in Iraq, particularly in Baghdad, which has enabled citizens to move freely and safely from Faw and Basra to Zakho.

Major General Miri underscored the Ministry of Interior’s primary responsibility, which is to secure and protect the lives and property of citizens throughout the country, from the border to police stations in all cities. This commitment to security is central to maintaining the low crime rates currently being experienced.
