Iraq and Russia Discuss the Establishment of Direct Flights Between the Two Countries


Baghdad: The Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee discussed the establishment of direct flights between Iraq and Russia on Tuesday.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport stated in a press release that “Karim Hashim Hussein Al-Jabri, Director General of the Technical Department and representative of the Ministry of Transport, participated in the meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee.”



The meeting addressed several joint files between the two nations in the field of transportation, with a significant focus on the Iraqi-Russian maritime agreement, which has been submitted to the Council of Representatives for ratification.



Additionally, both sides examined the draft memorandum of understanding in land transport, which has been sent to the Russian side for review and feedback.



The discussions included the possibility of establishing direct flights between Iraq and Russia, aiming to strengthen transportation and communication links between the two countries, thereby opening broader horizons for cooperation in various transportation sectors.



Participants at the meeting also reviewed strategies to enhance cooperation in the areas of ports and maritime transport, aiming to develop mechanisms for joint work that serve the mutual interests of both countries.
