Baghdad: The US State Department confirmed on Tuesday that President Donald Trump supports Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s vision for building a strong Iraqi-American partnership, noting that Iraq has embarked on a new path under al-Zaidi’s leadership in full cooperation with the United States.

According to Iraqi News Agency, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott stated, “President Donald Trump made it clear during his historic meeting with Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi on July 14 that the United States strongly supports his vision to ensure a brighter future for all Iraqis, prevent attacks within or originating from Iraq, and build a strong and mutually beneficial US-Iraqi partnership.”

Pigott further emphasized that Iraq has embarked on a new path under the leadership of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, in full cooperation with the United States, indicating a promising shift in US-Iraq relations.
