Al-Zaydi Includes Mandaean Sabean Sect in Residential Land Project


Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi directed that members of the Mandaean Sabean community be included in the million-plot residential land project. During his meeting with Sheikh Sattar Jabbar al-Hilu, head of the Mandaean Sabean community in Iraq and the world, and his accompanying delegation, al-Zaidi affirmed, according to a statement from his media office, that “Iraq’s strength lies in its diversity and pluralism, and the Mandaean Sabean community represents an authentic and fundamental aspect of the Iraqi spectrum.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized that “all Iraqi communities are equal in rights and duties, and the government is committed to protecting Iraq’s diversity and guaranteeing the rights of all its components.” Al-Zaidi directed that members of the Mandaean Sabean community be included in the million-plot residential land project, which will contribute to providing them with suitable housing and enhance stability and a dignified life for all Iraqis.



For his part, Sheikh Sattar Jabbar Al-Hilu and the members of the delegation praised the government’s steps and serious measures in combating corruption and protecting public funds, and in strengthening Iraq’s role and standing at the Arab and international levels, as well as the government’s efforts to enforce the rule of law and consolidate sovereignty.
