Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has directed efforts to fully utilize associated gas to meet Iraq’s domestic needs, reduce waste, and ultimately eliminate the need for imports.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Zaidi’s office revealed that he chaired a meeting to discuss the strategic plan for increasing oil production from 2027 to 2030. During the meeting, the Prime Minister asserted that Iraq’s oil production should align with its reserves, oil capacity, and population to adequately meet the needs of its citizens and development goals. He underscored the importance of developing and upgrading infrastructure and export capacities to accommodate the anticipated surge in production.

Al-Zaidi has directed an increase in production from oil fields in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, emphasizing the expansion of exploration activities and blocks to achieve the plan’s objectives. The ultimate goal is to reach a production level of approximately 10 million barrels per day by 2030.

Additionally, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Oil to prepare for a significant international oil conference. This initiative aims to invite leading companies to attract global investments, expertise, and technologies. The intention is to contract with these entities to implement exploration, production, development, and export projects effectively.
