Istanbul: Besiktas secured a resounding 6-2 victory over their visitors, Kurum, in their match last night at their home ground as part of the third week of the Turkish Super League. This win sends a strong message ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Fenerbahce next week.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Besiktas finished the first half with a comfortable 2-0 lead before the match turned into a goal fest in the second half, as the team continued their relentless attack and delighted their fans with six more goals.
This victory gives Besiktas a significant morale boost after two consecutive defeats against Alanyaspor and Kauno Zalgiris, allowing the team to enter the Fenerbahce derby in the fourth week with high spirits and great confidence.
Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic was the star of the match, opening the scoring for the team from a penalty kick in the 42nd minute after failing to find the net in previous attempts saved by goalkeeper Felipe. Vlahovic returned to add his team’s third goa
l in the 59th minute, before completing his hat-trick in the 66th minute with a first-time shot from inside the penalty area after the ball rebounded off an opposing defender.
This made him the first player to score a hat-trick in his debut match for Besiktas. Vlahovic achieved this feat under the management of Vincenzo Italiano, the same coach who managed him at Fiorentina in Italy. His last hat-trick for Fiorentina came in the 2021-2022 season against Spezia in a match that ended 3-0.
This victory is the first of its kind in the Turkish Super League in six seasons. The last win by such a large margin dates back to the 2020-2021 season when the team defeated Caykur Rizespor 6-0 at the Topras Stadium, the season in which they won the league title.
Czech star Vaclav Cerny continued his form this season, scoring his third goal of the campaign. He opened the scoring for his team in the 9th minute with a well-placed header from a cross by teammate Agbadou, thus completing a series of crucial goals that began i
n the matches against Eypspor and Hradec Králové.
Youngster Ilhan Fakili (20 years old) also scored his first goal for the team in the 73rd minute, firing home from inside the penalty area after a decisive pass from teammate Olitan, making up for his failure to score in the previous nine matches this season.
Meanwhile, a goal by new signing Ernest Bocco in the 86th minute was disallowed after a VAR review, while new midfielder Fabio Meretti made his debut for Besiktas in this match.
