Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein engaged in discussions on regional developments and the government’s efforts to regulate weapons with Victoria Nuland, director of the Iraq Initiative Program at the Atlantic Council in Washington.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein hosted Nuland in Baghdad on Thursday. The discussions focused on regional developments, especially initiatives targeting the de-escalation of tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The dialogue also addressed the Iraqi government’s initiatives to regulate weapons and ensure they are placed under state control, alongside challenges in implementing these measures. Additionally, the talks encompassed Iraqi-U.S. relations, exploring ways to enhance and strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the context of the recent visit by the Prime Minister to Washington.
