Kuala lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced a significant change in the scheduling of the AFC Asian Cup, marking the end of its odd-numbered year format. The 2027 edition will be the final tournament held under this system.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the AFC has decided that the Asian Cup will now take place in even-numbered years, beginning with the 2032 edition. This shift means that the tournament following the 2031 edition will occur in 2032, with subsequent tournaments continuing in 2036, 2040, and so on. The bidding process for hosting the 2032 edition has officially commenced, inviting nations to participate in the hosting competition.
