Amarah: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of an official in the Amarah Municipality, the capital of Maysan Governorate, after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission explained that its staff in the Maysan Investigation Office set up a sting operation to apprehend the head of the Violations Committee in the Amarah Municipality Directorate. The official had solicited a bribe of three million dinars from an individual in exchange for providing an official letter guaranteeing that the violations committed by the individual would not be removed.

The statement further added that the accused was apprehended with the bribe money in his possession. A formal report was prepared, and the accused was presented, along with the report, to the competent investigating judge, who ordered his detention in accordance with Article (307) of the Penal Code.
