Female Employee in Diwaniyah Apprehended for Accepting Bribe

Diwaniyah: The Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of a female employee from a municipal directorate in Diwaniyah Governorate, caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a citizen to facilitate the sale of a state-owned plot of land.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission’s operation was carried out following a judicial warrant. A specialized team was formed to probe into information regarding the employee from the property department who was allegedly soliciting bribes. This investigation was anchored in Article (25) of the Law on the Sale and Lease of State Property.

The Commission revealed that after verifying the information and securing the necessary judicial warrant, an ambush was set up that led to the woman’s arrest as she received the bribe. A formal arrest report was subsequently prepared and submitted, along with the accused and the evidence, to the Diwaniyah Investigation Court’s judge, specializing in integrity cases. The judge has ordered her detention pending further investigation, in line with the provisions of Resolution No. (160 of 1983), as amended.
