One Pilot Killed, Another Missing After Greek Fighter Jet Crashes During Air Show

Tanagra: A pilot was killed and another went missing after a Greek F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed during an air show at Tanagra Air Base in northern Greece as part of Athens Air Week. The Hellenic Air Force aircraft, carrying two pilots, crashed minutes before landing for reasons that remain unclear.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the crash occurred while hundreds of spectators were observing the air show, with the jet attempting to regain altitude near the base’s runway before it crashed. The incident resulted in the death of one pilot, while the other remains missing, with no evidence suggesting that the pilots had ejected.

Reports noted that a fire erupted at the crash site following the impact, prompting a large response from firefighters and medical teams. Spectators were evacuated as a precaution, and events at Athens Air Week were temporarily suspended in light of the tragedy.
