Al-Naft Secures Dominant Win Against Al-Minaa in Basra

Basra: Al-Naft snatched three valuable points from their hosts, Al-Minaa, after a well-deserved 3-0 victory in the match held at Al-Fayhaa International Stadium in Basra, as part of the fifth round of the Iraqi Stars League. Al-Minaa started the match pressing hard, trying to reach Al-Naft’s goal and score the opening goal. However, a counter-attack resulted in Al-Naft opening the scoring through their player, Mohammed Adnan, in the 11th minute, with a long-range shot that surprised the Al-Minaa goalkeeper.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, after the goal, Al-Naft imposed their control over the course of the match, with Mohammed Adnan returning to add the second goal for his team in the 31st minute, before professional player Chris Kovar managed to score the third goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time, ending the first half with Al-Naft leading 3-0.

In the second half, Al-Minaa tried to reduce the deficit through successive attacks, but Al-Naft goalkeeper Ali Yassin thwarted their attempts and kept a clean sheet, so the game remained a back-and-forth affair between the two teams until the referee blew the final whistle, declaring Al-Naft the winners with a score of 3-0.

With this result, Al-Naft raised its points tally to 9, while Al-Minaa’s remained at 7.
