Istanbul: Besiktas overturned a deficit against hosts Fenerbahce to secure a valuable 2-1 victory on Saturday evening at the Choubani Stadium in a top-of-the-table clash in the fourth round of the Turkish Super League. Besiktas moved up to second place with 9 points, one point behind leaders Galatasaray, while Fenerbahce remained in fourth place with 6 points after suffering their second defeat in four matches.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first half ended 1-1, with Slovakian Milan Skriniar giving the home side the lead in the 26th minute. Archie Brown’s long throw-in into the penalty area deflected off a defender and fell to Skriniar, who slotted it into the net. Besiktas responded quickly, with Ridvan Yilmaz leveling the score just 11 minutes later. He received a long pass from Belgian Leandro Trossard on the left side of the penalty area before unleashing a powerful shot into the far corner, bringing the game back to square one.

In the second half, both teams exchanged attacks in search of a go-ahead goal. Besiktas almost found the net again in the 57th minute when Serbian Du‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡an Vlahovic broke through on goal and shot from close range, but Brazilian Ederson made a brilliant save. Ederson shone again in the 67th minute, saving his goal from a one-on-one with Ilhan Fakili, before Vlahovic scored the winning goal for Besiktas in the 73rd minute.

The goal came after a quick counter-attack, finished off by Orkun Kokcu with an easy cross to Vlahovic, who didn’t hesitate to put the ball into the empty net, giving his team three valuable points in the derby.
