Baghdad: Liverpool, led by manager Andoni Iraola, played their first match in the 2026/27 English Premier League season on Friday evening against Ipswich Town. Liverpool visited Ipswich Town at Portman Road Stadium for the third round of the Premier League, where the Reds secured a 2-0 victory.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Alexander Isak opened the scoring for Liverpool in the sixth minute of the first half after a counter-attack. Cody Gakpo broke forward with the ball and passed it to the Swede, who fired it powerfully into the net. In the ninth minute, Isak doubled the lead after another pass from Gakpo, who found his teammate. Isak dribbled past his marker and slotted the ball home, scoring his second goal and Liverpool’s second.
