Baghdad: The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities confirmed on Saturday that the land plots within the “Homeland” initiative will be completely free. In a statement, the ministry said, “Following the directives of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi regarding the ‘Homeland’ initiative, we would like to emphasize that the residential land plots will be completely free, and that all Iraqi families who do not own a housing unit or property (all family members) are eligible.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement explained that an electronic link for registration for the residential plots will be launched next October. More than 216,000 residential plots have been prepared as a first phase and identified in 15 governorates. It added that infrastructure work will commence through donor investors and contributors at no cost.

The ministry affirmed that work is continuing day and night by the specialized committees, under the supervision of the Prime Minister’s office, to complete this project, with the goal of preparing one million residential plots.
