Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, has emphasized the crucial need to transform literacy into a sustainable national priority. He has urged the Ministry of Education to activate and implement the provisions outlined in the Literacy Law No. (23) of 2011 and to enhance its programs to ensure they reach the intended groups effectively.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Dulaimi issued a statement through his media office, highlighting the importance of eradicating illiteracy as both a national and civilizational responsibility. He referenced Iraq’s historical significance as the cradle of writing and a foundational source of knowledge, asserting that the nation deserves to be free from illiteracy.

On International Literacy Day, Faihan called upon the Ministry of Education to take decisive action by activating and implementing the Literacy Law No. (23) of 2011. He urged the development of educational programs in continuous collaboration with the Parliamentary Education Committee to ensure targeted outreach.

Faihan stressed the importance of making literacy a sustainable national priority, reinforcing the right of Iraqis to education and solidifying Iraq’s esteemed cultural position on the global stage.
