Baquba: A woman was arrested in Baquba on charges of stealing gold jewelry. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Diyala Police Command announced today the arrest of a woman accused of stealing several gold pieces from a gold shop in Baquba market.

In a statement, the Command detailed that the Diyala Anti-Crime Department initiated search and investigation procedures after receiving a report from the shop owner regarding the theft of six gold pieces. Surveillance cameras were reviewed, and evidence and information related to the incident were collected.

The statement further revealed that the investigation led to the identification and arrest of the accused. It was discovered that she committed the theft in collaboration with her sister. The accused confessed to the crime both initially and judicially, and the evidence and investigation corroborated her confession. Legal measures were taken against her in accordance with Article (446).
