Baghdad: The Kirkuk Governorate Police Command has refuted circulating reports on social media and various media outlets about a fire allegedly erupting from a grave at the “Sayyid Alawi” cemetery.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Police Command issued a statement clarifying the situation. A field inspection conducted by the authorities indicated that the fire was not related to any grave. Instead, it was caused by accumulated waste and debris located in a corner of the cemetery, far from any burial sites.

The statement further explained that Civil Defense teams were dispatched to extinguish the fire promptly. They have also secured the area and implemented necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
