Wasit: The antiquities and heritage inspectorates of Wasit and Anbar are continuing their field surveys to inventory and document buildings and sites of historical and heritage value. This is part of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage’s efforts to protect cultural heritage and preserve landmarks that represent a part of the historical memory of the two governorates.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in Wasit, inspectorate teams conducted a field survey of several heritage buildings and schools in the governorate’s capital to assess their current condition, document their architectural and historical characteristics, and complete their data in preparation for their inclusion in the official registers of buildings and sites of heritage value.

In Anbar, inspectorate staff are continuing their field campaigns in the Haditha district to inventory and document buildings and sites of historical and heritage value, collecting data, technical information, and photographs in preparation for completing the procedures for declaring them heritage sites and including them in the inspectorate’s databases.
