Baghdad: The Ministry of Agriculture participated in a workshop for the executive team of the National Strategy for Combating Drugs in Iraq. The Ministry was represented by Dr. Hussam Majeed Katouf, Director of the Investment Plan Department and Head of the Standing Committee for Combating the Spread of the Datura Plant.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop was chaired by the Administrative Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Khamis Hussein Al-Saad. Attendees included the Director General of the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, the National Advisor for Mental Health, and representatives from various ministries, agencies, government institutions, and organizations focused on narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The workshop provided a platform for a comprehensive review of the Ministry of Agriculture’s key achievements and programs aimed at combating drugs. These efforts are part of the National Strategy for the years 2025-2026 and involved reviewing the contributions of all partner entities to achieve the strategy’s objectives.
These initiatives are integral to the ongoing efforts to combat drugs in Iraq, an issue receiving significant government focus. The primary aim is to reduce the dangers associated with drug use and to protect individuals and society from its adverse effects.
