Baghdad: In preparation for launching its country strategy 2025-2029, the Ministry of Labor and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are exploring a mechanism for joint cooperation in the next phase. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Dr. Khaled Amjad Al-Saigh, hosted a meeting with the head of the IOM mission in Iraq, Pascal Rentgens, along with other key officials.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, present at the meeting were Kadhim Al-Atwani, Director General of the Department of Media and Arab and International Relations, and Osama Majeed Al-Khafaji, Director General of the Department of Labor and Vocational Training. The discussions focused on the IOM’s strategy for the period 2025-2029, which is set to be officially launched on September 9th.

Dr. Al-Saigh emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing its strategic partnership with the IOM, ensuring that their joint projects are aligned with national labor market policies. He highlighted the need for programs that enhance economic and professional empowerment opportunities for the most vulnerable groups, aiming to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting also explored prospects for developing the partnership between the Ministry and IOM, focusing on strengthening coordination in joint programs and projects. This collaboration aims to align with national priorities and policies, supporting target groups and fostering economic and social integration.
