Baghdad: A faculty member from Diyala University has been selected as a member of the competitions committee of the Iraqi Central Football Association. Muslim Hasaballah Ibrahim, a professor at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Diyala University, has been appointed to this notable position.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Marwa Khalid Jihad, the media director of the College of Physical Education, stated that the selection of Hasaballah, who heads team sports at the college, is a recognition of his academic background and experience in team sports. His efforts in developing curricula and training programs, along with his contribution to preparing specialized personnel, were key factors in his appointment.

She further noted that Hasaballah’s expertise will be instrumental in supporting the competitions committee’s work and in developing mechanisms for organizing football tournaments and competitions based on international standards. This is expected to contribute to the development of the game at a national level.

This initiative is in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, “Quality Education,” and Goal 3, “Good Health and Well-being.” It emphasizes the role of academic institutions in supporting and advancing sports, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthy sporting society capable of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
