Babil: The Babil Provincial Council has emphasized the importance of halting the bulldozing of agricultural lands and preventing any encroachment on state-owned lands. This stance was reiterated during the council’s thirteenth regular session of the new legislative term, which was held on Tuesday. The session was chaired by the council chairman and attended by Babil Governor Ali Turki al-Jamali.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Council Chairman Asaad al-Muslawi announced that the council voted to allocate 15 dunams of land for the completion of the Nationality Bridge. This project is designed to alleviate traffic congestion in Hillah and connect the city’s two banks, particularly addressing congestion in the Bab al-Hussein area.

Al-Muslawi also revealed that the council decided to allocate a 400-dunam plot in the al-Shumali area for the construction of an oil depot. This initiative is part of the council’s efforts to bolster infrastructure and strengthen the oil sector within the province.

In addition to infrastructure projects, the council addressed the issue of land protection. They emphasized the necessity of stopping the bulldozing of agricultural lands and preventing encroachment on state-owned properties. The council indicated that legal action would be taken against violators and discussed the issue of buildings on agricultural land, advocating for a halt to demolitions and the development of legal solutions to address these structures’ statuses, while also focusing on removing all encroachments.
