Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi, has underscored the importance of eradicating illiteracy, labeling it a national and civilizational responsibility. Faihan emphasized the need for Iraq, historically a cradle of writing and knowledge, to overcome this challenge.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan issued a statement via his media office, stressing the significance of International Literacy Day as a platform to call attention to the issue. He urged the Ministry of Education to activate and implement the Literacy Law No. (23) of 2011. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for developing programs that ensure reaching the target groups, with continuous coordination with the Parliamentary Education Committee.
Faihan highlighted the importance of making literacy a sustainable national priority. He stated that this would reinforce the right of Iraqis to education and bolster Iraq’s civilizational status on the global stage.
