Southern Energy Transmission Staff Complete Crucial Maintenance at Burjesia Station

Basra: Southern Energy Transmission Company’s engineering and technical staff have successfully completed the washing and maintenance of insulators at the Al-Burjasiya (132 kV) substation, located south of Basra Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the efforts were spearheaded by the staff of the Substation Maintenance Department No. (1). The maintenance work involved cleaning the insulators of the Al-Bakr and Al-Rafidhiya 132 kV lines and their associated equipment. This initiative is aimed at maintaining the stability of the electricity supply by improving insulation efficiency and reducing electrical discharge, which is often caused by dust and moisture accumulation.

The media office of the Southern Electricity Transmission Company detailed that the maintenance included washing insulators on various components such as circuit breakers, transformers, transmission lines, and the mobile substation. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the integrity of the connections before lines and equipment are reactivated.

These procedures are integral to the proactive periodic maintenance of the southern Basra networks. They play a vital role in guaranteeing the efficient operation of the national grid and minimizing unexpected outages, thereby contributing to a more reliable power supply for the region.
