Ankara: The Turkish Civil Aviation Authority has announced a significant expansion in its fleet, which has grown to 846 aircraft during the first half of this year. This increase has pushed the total seating capacity to over 166,000, marking a notable development in Turkey’s aviation sector.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the number of aircraft within Turkish airlines’ fleets was approximately 800 in 2025. However, this figure has risen to 846 during the first half of the current year, as revealed by official data released today. The expansion was facilitated by negotiations with eight international entities, resulting in the addition of 22 new routes and the right to operate unlimited cargo flights with Canada.

The data further indicates that Turkish airports handled 111 million passengers between January and June this year. This total includes 50 million passengers on domestic flights and 61 million on international flights. The total volume of air cargo during this period reached 2,499,000 tons, with 441,000 tons on domestic routes and 2,058,000 tons on international routes.

Additionally, Turkey has expanded its air transport agreements, now having agreements with 175 countries, reflecting its growing influence and connectivity in international aviation.
