Maintenance Efforts Underway at Badr Shakir al-Sayyab’s House in Basra


Basra: The Department of Maintenance and Preservation of Antiquities is actively following up on the maintenance work of Badr Shakir al-Sayyab’s house in Basra. The ongoing efforts are directed by the Head of the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, Ali Ubaid Shalgham, with supervision from the Director General of the Department, Muhammad al-Bayati.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the maintenance work is a collaborative effort involving the Department of Maintenance and Preservation of Antiquities, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Basra Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate. The initiative aims to preserve the historical and heritage value of the house, ensuring its cultural identity remains intact.



This project is part of the broader efforts by the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage to protect heritage buildings and sites, safeguarding their historical and cultural significance. The work is being conducted in line with the approved methods and standards in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
