Interior Ministry Seizes 150 Kilograms of Narcotics in Iraqi Waters


Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of 150 kilograms of narcotics in Iraqi territorial waters: The Ministry stated in a press release: “Detachments from the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs, represented by intelligence operations, special investigations, and the intelligence cell in Muthanna Narcotics, in cooperation with the Military Intelligence Directorate and the Naval Force Command, carried out a qualitative security operation in Iraqi territorial waters within the Arabian Gulf, following information received from a neighboring country regarding suspicious activity along maritime routes.”



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement further explained: “After subjecting the information to investigation and intelligence tracking, the executing force was able to locate and seize a boat with two Iraqi suspects on board. Subsequent operations led to the identification and seizure of a second boat with a foreign national on board.”



The operation resulted in the seizure of 150 kilograms of various narcotics, 21,000 Lyrica pills, and two boats.
