Basra: The Al-Qadiriyya Kasnazani Sufi order in Basra held its central celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday in Al-Hurriya Gardens in the heart of the province. The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of Basra, Hassan Thahir Al-Najjar, along with a number of local government representatives, officials, tribal leaders, dignitaries, and residents of Basra.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in his address during the celebration, Al-Najjar emphasized that “the birth of the light of the beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, represents a historical turning point in the transition of the entire universe from darkness to light.” He noted that Islamic unity and the unity of the Muslim community were embodied in the presence of diverse groups from Basra at this blessed gathering. Al-Najjar also praised the role of the order’s followers in consolidating social peace in Iraq in general and Basra in particular.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Nasser Al-Darwish, Director of the Iraqi Fatwa House in Basra Governorate, stressed the importance of adhering to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, emulating his noble example, and following the path of his family and companions, whom he described as role models and exemplars of ethics, tolerance, and mercy. He stressed the necessity of fostering a spirit of compassion and mercy among the Iraqi people, especially given the hardships and challenges facing society. He affirmed that following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions is the path to building a cohesive society characterized by security, love, and unity, and guiding the country toward safety.
