Baghdad: The Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, affirmed the military establishment’s commitment to strengthening cooperative relations with friendly countries in order to enhance the capabilities of the Iraqi army.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Defense indicated that Yarallah received the Norwegian Charg© d’Affaires, Alexander Lervall, and the Senior Advisor at the Norve Center, Dr. Farida Nouma, on Saturday. During the meeting, aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed, particularly in the areas of supporting stability and enhancing security. Cooperation programs related to humanitarian issues and arming Iraqi security forces were also on the agenda, with the Charg© d’Affaires praising the efforts of the Iraqi military leadership in managing this file.

The statement also highlighted the role of international institutions and Norwegian programs in supporting Iraq, especially those related to providing aid to camps for displaced persons and promoting peace. Emphasis was placed on the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to serve common interests and contribute to supporting security and stability in the region.

For his part, the Chief of Staff praised the Norwegian side’s efforts in supporting Iraq, stressing the military establishment’s keenness to strengthen cooperative relations with friendly countries in a way that enhances the capabilities of the Iraqi army.
