Baghdad: The Baghdad Karkh Police Command announced the arrest of a man who discharged a firearm during a wedding celebration in the Al-Abaiji area, situated north of Baghdad. The arrest was made by the Al-Karkh police on Saturday, following the incident where the suspect fired shots into the air as a display of force.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police stated that units from the Tarmiya Police Station, in collaboration with the Tarmiya Emergency Response Unit, successfully apprehended the man responsible for the gunfire. The police operation was initiated after receiving a report about the incident. Upon arrival at the scene, security personnel were able to identify and detain the suspect, who had attempted to conceal himself while firing the shots, under the assumption that he would remain unidentified.

The police further reported that a Kalashnikov rifle, along with a magazine, was seized from the suspect. The arrested individual, along with the weapon, has been handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary legal proceedings.
