Rennes: Rennes temporarily topped the French Ligue 1 standings after defeating Marseille 1-0 in their match on Friday evening, the opening fixture of the fourth round of the competition.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rennes owes its victory to Adrien Thomasson, who scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute. This was Rennes’ third win, along with one draw, bringing their total to 10 points and temporarily placing them at the top of the standings, one point ahead of Monaco, the previous leader, who will visit Strasbourg on Saturday in the same round.
Meanwhile, Marseille suffered their third consecutive defeat after starting the season with a resounding 4-0 victory over Strasbourg, leaving them with just 3 points in eleventh place.
The round continues today (Saturday) with Le Havre playing Angers, Paris FC facing Lyon, Auxerre taking on Nice, and Lorient hosting Toulouse. The round concludes tomorrow (Sunday) with Lille playing Troyes, Le Mans facing Lens, and Brest hosting Paris Saint-Germain.
