Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on Saturday engaged in discussions with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi regarding the recent attack targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the consequent measures undertaken.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement indicating that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a telephone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During this call, the ministers examined bilateral relations and the closure of several border crossings, exploring the reasons behind these actions and potential resolutions.

The dialogue also covered the attack on Saudi Arabia and the associated measures, alongside discussions about a joint committee formed to investigate the incident. The conversation further touched upon a forthcoming meeting in the Sultanate of Oman, involving eight neighboring countries, including the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Iraq, and Iran, to deliberate on issues concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Fuad Hussein highlighted Iraq’s support for this meeting and confirmed the participation of an Iraqi delegation.

Additionally, both sides reviewed the latest developments in Yemen, emphasizing the necessity of resolving outstanding issues through dialogue and negotiations to mitigate tensions and bolster regional security and stability.
