Baghdad: The Media and Communications Commission has announced the initiation of a public consultation process for the draft “Draft Regulation for Digital Content in Iraq.” This move is part of the Commission’s commitment to transparency and inclusive participation in shaping regulations that impact digital content within the nation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission is urging a wide range of stakeholders to engage in this consultation. This includes relevant authorities, specialists, stakeholders, media outlets, digital platforms, content creators, influencers, professional and academic organizations, civil society organizations, and experts. The goal is for these parties to provide comments and suggestions that will contribute to the development of the final version of the regulation. The draft aims to establish a regulatory framework that balances freedom of expression and information flow with legal and professional responsibilities in the digital space, while also safeguarding public interest and individual rights.
