Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced on Sunday the capture of the terrorist “Abu Saher” in Kirkuk. In a statement, the cell said, “The Military Intelligence Directorate carried out a precise preemptive operation that resulted in the arrest of a wanted terrorist, known as ‘Abu Saher,’ pursuant to Article (4/1) of the Counter-Terrorism Law. He is considered a high-value target for the security forces.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrest came after intensive intelligence follow-up that led to the identification of his hideout in the Yayji district of Kirkuk Governorate. The raid was carried out in cooperation and coordination between the 8th Division Intelligence Department and the Yayji Intelligence Branch.
The statement further explained that intelligence indicates the arrested terrorist held several positions in what was called the ‘Islamic State of Iraq,’ serving in the Yarmouk Brigade in Anbar Governorate, specifically in the Saqlawiyah sector. He also held positions in the so-called ‘Services Department’ during the period when ISIS terrorist gangs were present in some areas of Anbar.
The statement added that the necessary legal procedures have been taken against the accused to refer him to the judiciary in accordance with applicable laws.
