Two Suspects Arrested for Defrauding a Currency Exchange Office in Baquba


Baghdad: A joint security force from Diyala Police arrested two suspects from Baghdad Governorate who had committed a fraud targeting a money exchange office owner in Baquba, stealing approximately $200,000 before fleeing.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the police command stated in a press release that, under the direction and supervision of Diyala Police Chief, Major General Muhammad Kadhim Atiya, a security team was formed to investigate the case, uncover its circumstances, and apprehend the perpetrators. The statement added that, through meticulous review of surveillance camera footage and technical and intelligence efforts, the team was able to obtain crucial leads that led to the identification of the suspects and the tracking of their movements.



A well-planned ambush resulted in their arrest in record time, and the stolen money was recovered. The statement indicated that the necessary legal procedures were being taken against the suspects, and they were referred to the competent authorities in accordance with established procedures.
