Kirkuk Medical Breakthrough: First Successful Migraine Surgery in Iraq


Kirkuk: In a remarkable medical achievement, Kirkuk Governorate has successfully completed a groundbreaking surgical procedure, marking the first instance of such an operation in Iraq. This pioneering surgery was aimed at treating severe and recurring migraine headaches specifically located in the forehead area.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the procedure was conducted at Azadi Teaching Hospital in Kirkuk. The operation was carried out with limited resources under the supervision of Dr. Ali Adol Ali, a consultant surgeon and professor at the Kirkuk College of Medicine. The surgical team comprised several distinguished medical and healthcare staff members from the hospital.



The source reported that the operation took approximately one and a half hours and was deemed a success. This accomplishment highlights the development of healthcare institutions in Kirkuk and underscores the expertise and competence of its doctors and medical staff in performing specialized and rare surgeries.
