Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi commenced a European tour on Sunday, leading a high-level delegation to France and Germany, upon the official invitation of both governments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister’s Media Office announced that al-Zaidi’s tour is part of the government’s strategy to enhance international relations and expand partnerships with France and Germany, focusing primarily on sectors like energy, security, and transportation.

During this tour, al-Zaidi will engage in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, addressing a variety of regional and international issues that concern both sides.

Al-Zaidi is set to lead the Iraqi delegation in comprehensive talks with French and German representatives to explore ways of strengthening economic partnerships amid current regional and global challenges.

The itinerary also includes the signing of several memoranda of understanding in areas such as energy, security, transportation, education, and culture, which are expected to further consolidate cooperation and fortify bilateral relations between the countries.
