Karbala: A member of parliament has placed responsibility on the Ministry of Oil for the ongoing gasoline shortage affecting the holy city of Karbala. MP Ibtisam al-Hilali, representing Karbala, has criticized the Ministry’s decision to cut the fuel allocation for the province, reducing it from 1.45 million liters to 1.2 million liters of gasoline and diesel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hilali highlighted the repercussions of this reduction, noting that Karbala has lost approximately seven tankers of its allocated share. This reduction has led to a fuel crisis in the province, significantly impacting its economy.

Al-Hilali emphasized the importance of Karbala, stating that the province is no less significant than Baghdad and other regions, as it regularly receives millions of visitors and pilgrims who come to visit the holy shrines. She further urged the Prime Minister and the Minister of Oil to address the issue, calling for the reinstatement of Karbala’s full fuel allocation to alleviate the ongoing crisis.
