Basra: MP Ali Shaddad has urged education contract workers in Basra, who are part of an 8,000-employee group, to disregard what he described as “suspicious” calls to travel to Baghdad for demonstrations in front of the Ministry of Finance. He assured the public that the process is on track towards a final resolution.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Shaddad issued a press release through his media office in which he described the calls for protest as attempts to create confusion and disruption among the workforce. He emphasized that these calls are primarily designed to destabilize the morale of employees and to plunge them into unnecessary anxiety, while official procedures are progressing as planned.

Shaddad further clarified that any delayed salaries will be paid in full once the ongoing auditing processes are completed. He noted that the current delays are merely temporary organizational measures and should not be seen as a setback in resolving the issue.

In a direct message to the contract workers, Shaddad assured them that there is no need to endure the hardships of travel to Baghdad. “Rest assured, we are following up on the matter on your behalf,” he said, urging the workers to remain patient as the situation is being handled appropriately.
