Baghdad: The President of Iraq, Nizar Amidi, and Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the National State Forces Alliance, engaged in high-level discussions to assess the evolving political landscape in Iraq and tackle the challenges currently confronting the nation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hakim highlighted the necessity for unified efforts to address these pressing challenges, with a particular focus on the economic and financial sectors. He underscored the importance of drawing lessons from the ongoing crisis, advocating for increased oil production, the diversification of oil export routes, and the overall diversification of Iraq’s economy. Al-Hakim stressed that moving away from a rentier state model is crucial, as Iraq has the potential to develop a diverse economy that safeguards the rights of its citizens and future generations.

In relation to the formation of the cabinet, the dialogue underscored the need for political factions to finalize their selections and assign ministerial roles to competent individuals. Such individuals should be capable of managing their respective ministries effectively and turning current challenges into opportunities for success.

Furthermore, al-Hakim emphasized the importance of adhering to the Iraqi constitution, which mandates that Iraq must not serve as a transit point, base, or launching pad for activities threatening neighboring countries. He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to a policy of openness, aligning with the nation’s interests and maintaining its sovereignty.
