Basra: The Basra Criminal Court has issued a death sentence against a foreign national drug trafficker for the crime of trafficking in narcotic substances.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Judicial Council reported that the convicted individual was found in possession of 10 kilograms and 50 grams of hashish, intended for trafficking and sale to drug users.

The statement added that the sentence was issued pursuant to Article 27, Paragraph First, of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017.
