Baghdad:The Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mithaq Abdul-Hussein Obeid, held discussions with a World Bank delegation focused on supporting and funding agricultural projects within the crop and livestock sectors. This initiative aims to enhance investment, development opportunities, and job creation in line with Iraq’s National Development Plan for 2024-2028.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting covered various aspects, including mechanisms for selecting projects, identifying beneficiary groups, and determining eligible governorates for funding. The discussions also addressed loan frameworks, covering amounts, interest rates, and repayment schedules, alongside monitoring and oversight mechanisms to ensure successful implementation and development goal achievement.
Additionally, the meeting emphasized the development of training and capacity-building programs for funding recipients. These programs are designed to improve project management skills and ensure sustainabi
lity, ultimately aiming to create successful models that can be expanded across different governorates.
The Technical Undersecretary highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation with the World Bank and utilizing available expertise and resources to bolster the agricultural sector. These efforts are intended to contribute to development goals, strengthen food security, and establish the conditions necessary for accessing regional and global markets.
