Ali Al-Zaidi Chairs Extraordinary Security Council Meeting


Baghdad:Ali Al-Zaidi: The Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces chaired an extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Council for National Security to address the future of Iraq’s defense strategy following the complete withdrawal of the International Coalition to Combat Daesh.



According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing the capabilities of military institutions to ensure security and stability and strengthen the authority of the law. Discussions centered on making security and military decision-making fully national, emphasizing the importance of coordination among security forces, and adopting modern technological solutions.



The Prime Minister highlighted the need for constant vigilance and readiness, urging updates to plans, procedures, and databases. He also stressed the significance of reinforcing intelligence efforts and proactively addressing sources of extremist rhetoric and sectarian incitement, which threaten social unity and peace.



Al-Zaidi pointed out the vital role of the Defense Industries Commission in establishing productive partnerships with international companies specializing in weapons and military equipment manufacturing.
